Your Role
For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek a student to support our research and experiments on the characterization of thin films for inline metrology in battery manufacturing.

Develop and evaluate optical spectroscopy concepts for thin-film characterization with a focus on battery manufacturing processes

Design and perform experiments to measure and model optical properties of thin films for inline metrology

Analyze and process spectral data to assess measurement robustness for industrial use

Support the development and testing of prototype spectroscopy setups and inline metrology demonstrators

Research existing solutions related to optical thin-film metrology and adapt relevant approaches to our application
We are looking for you, ideally starting in October, for 6 months:

A bachelor's degree and enrolled in a master's program in mechanical/electrical engineering, optics & photonics, physics, or similar

Good understanding of the fundamentals of optics and electronics, ideally with a focus on measurement and sensing systems

Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, C/C++, or CUDA

Ideally hands-on experience with optical systems

Excellent organization, problem-solving & communication skills (English and/or German)

Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
