Professorship (f/d/m) (W2) Transportation Design

For our renowned Transportation Design program, we are looking for you – a visionary and passionate design professional who embodies both creative problem-solving and the ability to translate innovative conceptual thinking into future-oriented products of the highest level. The full-time (100 %) W2 professorship is to be filled starting in the 2027/2028 winter semester.

• You will share responsibility for the teaching and development of the BA and MA Transportation Design programs
• Balancing creative vision and technical implementation, you will guide and support students individually and help them develop their distinctive design interpretations
• You will teach the entire product design development process – from strategic direction to industrial implementation
• You will approach and teach the topic of mobility from a holistic perspective
• You play a key role in the ongoing and progressive development of the program, contribute your own creativity and take on responsibility in academic self-governance
• You play a defining role at the international level in shaping the profile and fostering interdisciplinary networking within the faculty and the university
• You will supervise projects and teach at a high pedagogical level

• You are forward-thinking, highly innovative, technologically savvy and have specific areas of focus, such as design strategy, transportation interiors, sustainability or connected mobility, etc.
• You are a distinguished professional with several years of experience at companies in the automotive, transportation, or mobility sectors and have an international network
• You are artistically outstanding within your field and you can demonstrate this through published and/or award-winning projects, honourable mentions, patents, or professional publications
• You possess excellent leadership qualities and process management skills
• With your teaching aptitude, you enjoy working as part of a dedicated team to train our students to become open-minded, responsible, and free-thinking designers
• In an international environment, you are fluent in English and are willing to learn German (B2) in the near future

Qualifications for the position include, among other things, a completed university degree in the field of design, academic qualifications, and at least five years of professional experience, at least three of which must have been gained outside the academic sector.
