Position Summary
As a Expert Sales, you will take ownership of complex quotation and tender processes from initial customer inquiry through to final proposal submission. You will lead cross-functional teams, develop tailored bid strategies and solution concepts, and ensure that proposals meet both technical and commercial requirements. Working closely with Sales, Application Engineering, R&D, and Product Management, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, competitive, and customer-focused proposals while continuously improving bid processes and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead and coordinate complex quotation and tender processes from initial customer inquiry through to the timely submission of high-quality proposals.
- Develop and execute effective bid strategies, balancing technical, commercial, and financial requirements.
- Serve as the central point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the bid process and drive effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Analyze and evaluate customer requirements, specifications, and statements of work with regard to technical feasibility, commercial viability, and potential risks.
- Develop tailored technical solution concepts in close collaboration with Sales, Application Engineering, R&D, and Product Management.
- Take ownership of the preparation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of complex proposal documents, including technical and commercial content.
- Plan, facilitate, and follow up on bid, review, and approval meetings, ensuring alignment and timely decision-making through to final proposal approval.
- Support and advise the Sales team in developing technically solid and commercially competitive proposal solutions.
- Identify, assess, and manage bid-related risks, developing appropriate mitigation measures where required.
- Continuously improve and standardize bid management processes, methodologies, and templates to enhance efficiency, consistency, and overall proposal quality.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards as well as customer-specific, contractual, and regulatory requirements throughout the entire bid process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in technical sales, inside sales, bid management, proposal management, or application engineering.
- Proven experience in managing complex technical tenders and quotation processes.
- Strong technical expertise combined with the ability to translate customer requirements into technically feasible and commercially viable solution concepts.
- Knowledge of relevant functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508) and security standards (e.g. IEC 62443, EU NIS2).
- Experience in working with safety PLCs and knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and to communicate technical content clearly and precisely.
- Experience with ERP Systems such as IFS Cloud, SAP, Oracle or comparable platforms.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coordination skills, with the ability to successfully collaborate across multiple functions and departments.
- Highly structured, analytical, and self-motivated approach to work, combined with a strong customer and service orientation.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
