As a Business Development Engineer in Display Bonding & Adhesive Applications, you will play a key role in developing technical solutions and new business opportunities for automotive display applications. Working at the interface between tesa, automotive customers and external technology partners, you will translate customer requirements into innovative adhesive solutions and scalable application processes. With your technical expertise, customer focus and hands-on approach, you will support projects from the initial concept and prototype through validation and industrialization, while helping to identify new technologies, market opportunities and growth potential in this dynamic field.

Your tasks include

• Support sales teams and automotive customers with adhesive tape selection and the development of technical concepts and prototypes for automotive displays.
• Lead cross-functional projects as an adhesive tape expert, coordinating the development, validation and industrialization of robust application and automation solutions.
• Translate customer requirements into suitable adhesive tape solutions and scalable processes aligned with performance, quality and manufacturability.
• Benchmark adhesive technologies, applications and competitors within the defined focus area and provide insights and recommendations to Product Development, Technology Development and Marketing.

• Take a hands-on approach to validating technical concepts from initial design through prototype application devices, conducting tape application trials, defining process windows, optimizing parameters and supporting validation and scale-up.
• Develop and deliver internal and external technical training covering adhesive tape fundamentals, selection criteria, surface preparation, application methods, process control and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to a dynamic, entrepreneurial team by identifying new application opportunities, building customer relationships and supporting the development of future business opportunities.
• Be prepared to travel internationally, with up to 50% travel as part of the role.

• You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, preferably in Chemistry or a related technical discipline.
• You have at least 3 years of professional experience in the automotive display industry. Experience in this field is a must.
• You have proven experience with adhesives and adhesive applications for displays, including process development, parameter definition, validation and industrialization.
• You have a strong understanding of display technologies, adhesive constructions and properties, substrate and surface interactions, release liners and relevant production technologies.
• Knowledge of electrically conductive adhesives and their application in display assemblies is an advantage.
• Experience in customer service, application engineering or other direct customer-facing roles is desirable, combined with strong communication and networking skills.
• Experience with CAD software and 3D design is a plus.
• You have strong presentation and negotiation skills, a clear customer focus and a result-oriented approach.
• You are a collaborative team player who can communicate effectively and work confidently across different functions and hierarchy levels.
• You are fluent in written and spoken German and English (at least B2 level); knowledge of Chinese is an advantage.
